The first day of fall is here, and though the season has just barely begun, it’s a great time to start getting your home prepared for winter. Here are a few must-do reminders:
Check windows and doors. Make sure they close properly and tightly with no visible gaps.
Replace air filters.
Make sure gutters are clear from debris and are securely attached.
Verify that all smoke or fire detectors are working properly.
Inspect the roof for any leaks, missing tiles or shingles, exposed flashing, or any rotted areas.
Clean chimney and fireplace and make sure they are in good working order.
Wrap all outdoor pipes to prevent freezing.
