Dear Mr. Fix It: September 2022

Hello, Mr. Fix It family! Welcome to our series, "Dear Mr. Fix It", where we will talk about smaller questions customers like you might have!

Dear Mr. Fix It,

Your tradesman showed up to my house in a clearly labeled Mr. Fix It van unannounced and asked if I had any landscaping jobs for him. After I declined all of his work requests, he stole my lawn equipment! How are you handling this situation?

Sincerely,

Scammed & Scrammed

Dear Scrammed,

Oh no! We are very sorry to hear that this happened to you. We sold a van with decals on it a few years ago with the purchaser agreeing to remove the decals. The decals unfortunately appear to have been left on the vehicle. This person is not a Mr. Fix It employee and we have notified city and county law enforcement of this activity. We recommend that you, if you are ever concerned or questioning the legitimacy of a Mr. Fix It presence at your site, please call our office at (520) 227-8194 to verify their presence. If our office can not verify their presence, please contact local law enforcement as our office will be doing the same.

Please note that our tradesmen will never:

  • ask for jobs

  • ask for trades

  • do landscaping/ lawn care

  • arrive without your prior knowledge or an attempt to contact you

  • ask for payment

Sincerely,

Mr. Fix It of Sierra Vista

Dear Mr. Fix It,

I put my deposit down a few weeks back and I received an update email that said that my kind of project is out 15 to 20 weeks. Does this mean my project has been pushed back that far? I look forward to your response.

signed,

Confused and Concerned

Dear Concerned,

Thank you for reaching out. These updates are sent out to everyone in our scheduling queue and are a generalized timeline for our newer projects. As is stated in the email:

If you have put down a deposit and have been in the scheduling queue for a while, PLEASE BE AWARE:

· The provided timeline does not extend your wait time.

· The provided timeline is simply a reference tool for our more recent customers.

Your project is actively being tracked by our skilled and capable office staff and is still on track for the timeline that we gave you in your customer agreement contract. These emails are simply a way of letting you know that you are not forgotten and we are tracking your project. We know how scary it can be when you put down a large sum of money and don't hear anything back for months. You may feel like someone just took your money and ran. We don't want you to feel that way so we reach out periodically just to let you know that we're still here, still tracking, and still working hard to get you on our schedule.

Thank you,

Mr. Fix It of Sierra Vista

Dear Mr. Fix It,

I had your estimator come out and provide an estimate for me. My project isn't too big, why is the estimate so high?

sincerely,

Pinching Pennies

Dear Pennies,

We understand how jarring it can be to see that a project is estimated at a higher price than you expected. It can be tempting to hire a cheaper, unlicensed handyman to do this project but please, before considering that as an option, please keep in mind these factors that go into every project that we estimate:

  • Material prices are consistently going up

  • We have to pay:

    1. our tradesmen for their labor

    2. our estimators for their time

    3. our office staff for their time, tracking, and scheduling your project

  • We warranty our work for 2 years which means that, if our repair/renovation fails within those 2 years, we will fix it at no cost to you.

  • We have specialized tradesmen with years of experience in the trade your project requires

  • We are licensed, bonded, and insured

If you have any other concerns, please do contact our office at (520) 227-8194 and we will be happy to address your concerns.

Thank you,

Mr. Fix It of Sierra Vista
